Historically, Noja has been a town of humble people who dedicate their lives to agriculture and fishing. With the arrival of tourism, a group of bold, entrepreneurial Noja families decided to make the most of the natural richness of our coast and start several hospitality businesses.
Joaquín Cano opened Las Dunas as a small restaurant with guest rooms on the only beach - Ris - and both he and his family developed this hotel, which is now one of the most symbolic establishments in Noja.
The last renovation took place in 2013, cementing our place as a dynamic business that continues to progress.
The work philosophy developed by Joaquín Cano is closely followed by his heirs. This makes Hotel Las Dunas a family-run establishment dedicated to guest satisfaction, and we strive to make guests feel welcome and to develop a long-standing relationship with them.

The first historic information about Noja dates back to the year 927 in the cartulary of Santa María del Puerto de Santoña. The numerous mansions and palaces that have coats of arms of Noja surnames are living testimony to the history of Noja.
Our craftspeople have been recognised in Spain and beyond, especially stonemasons and carpenters. The noble families of Noja have provided important figures in history, one of the most notable being Luis Vicente de Velasco who was charged with defending Morro Castle from an English assault in Havana, Cuba.
